History

We are delighted to present this beautiful two-bedroom apartment set within a Grade II listed mansion in the rural outskirts of Hawkhurst. This magnificent house originally built by Edward Lloyd a co-founder of the Lloyd Entwistle & Co bank, later became the District Bank and later the National Westminster Bank. He bought the Lillesden estate in 1853 and completed the stunning mansion in 1855.

The house built in the French Gothic château style remained with the Lloyd family until it sold just after the First World war. It later became Bedgebury Public Girls School with one student Trinny Woodall, carving out a successful career as a famous fashion guru and TV star. It is also a well-known fact among Doctor Who fans, that some episodes of "The Curse of Fenrick" were filmed within the building. The school closed in 1999 and where it remained abandoned until 2012. Bought by developers it took a further five years to obtain planning permission to refurbish it to an exceptional sympathetic specification.
